4-10-24   THOUGHTS

Some key fundamentals are present in our morning reading. Jesus is our teacher!  For most of the world, the words (verse 19) below are the goal of life... “take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."  The “requiring of the SOUL” gives us the risk factor!  Mark 8:36  "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?  Jesus' words in verse 15 “"Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed” are key!  “Every form” is powerful.   Then a parable.  A man of much wealth “began to reason with himself”!  We can manufacture great troubles when we reason with ourselves.  God called this man a “FOOL”!  He lost his compass! Worldly greed had overcome being “rich toward God”!  Jas 4:8  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.  Col 3:4   When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

Luke 12:13-21    Someone in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me." 14  But He said to him, "Man, who appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over you?" 15  Then He said to them, "Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions."  16  And He told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man was very productive.  17  "And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’  18  "Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19  ‘And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."’ 20  "But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’ 21  "So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

My Prayer:
Father, help us to truly learn Your principles and ways of life.  Make us zealously powerful in our quest to find Your fullness.  May we grow in Your grace to maturity.  Remove our childish efforts, and help us to be diligent in the pursuit of our lives and souls. Help us to preach Jesus and love our neighbor.  Help love to be our overwhelming motivation in all things.  You only are God, we desire eternity with You.  How marvelous that living hope is.
In the name of Jesus,      Amen.
